Admission Requirements

Your Journey at ATEA Starts Here.

At ArtisanOga Technical Entrepreneurship Academy (ATEA), we believe opportunity should be accessible to people who are ready to learn, practise and grow.

Our admissions process considers your commitment, potential, and suitability for your chosen programme, rather than academic qualifications alone.

Whether you are starting from scratch, improving an existing technical skill, preparing for employment, or building a business, ATEA provides a pathway designed to help you move forward.

ATEA ADMISSIONS

Ready to learn, practise and grow?

Find the programme and learning mode that matches your current stage.

Before You Apply

General Admission Requirements

To be considered for admission into an ATEA programme, applicants should:

01

Meet the Minimum Age Requirement

Applicants should generally be 16 years or older at the commencement of training. Applicants below 18 may be required to provide consent from a parent or guardian.

02

Complete an Application

Every prospective student must complete the ATEA Application Form and provide the information required for admission consideration.

03

Attend an Admission Interview

Shortlisted applicants participate in an Admission Interview with the ATEA Admissions Team. This helps us understand your experience, interests and goals and determine whether your selected programme and learning mode are appropriate for you.

04

Demonstrate Commitment to Learning

ATEA programmes are practical and participation-driven. Students must be prepared to attend classes, participate in practical activities, complete assignments and projects, and undertake required assessments.

05

Have Basic Literacy and Numeracy

Applicants should have sufficient literacy and numeracy skills to understand instructions, measurements, calculations and programme learning materials.

06

Meet Programme-Specific Requirements

Entry requirements differ according to programme level. Advanced technical programmes may require applicants to demonstrate previous knowledge, experience or practical competence.

07

Meet Learning-Mode Requirements

Not every ATEA programme is available online. Technical programmes may have specific equipment, practical-training and competency-assessment requirements depending on the level of study.

08

Complete Enrolment Requirements

Applicants who receive an Offer of Admission must accept the offer and make the required tuition payment or enter an approved instalment arrangement before completing enrolment.

Programme-Specific Requirements

Choose the Path That Matches Your Stage

01
Level One

Fashion Technology Foundations

Starting from scratch? Start here.

Learning Mode100% On Campus

Fashion Technology Foundations is designed for beginners with little or no previous fashion experience.

Previous fashion or sewing experienceNot required
Previous technical qualificationNot required
University degreeNot required
Online studyNot available
Important

ATEA does not currently offer Level One courses online. Applicants who cannot attend campus-based practical training should therefore not enrol for Level One until they are able to meet the physical attendance requirements.

Because Level One establishes the student's foundational technical competence, all Level One training is delivered 100% on campus. Students learn in a supervised practical environment with direct access to instructors, sewing machines, equipment and other training resources.

This allows instructors to observe students closely, correct techniques as they develop, reinforce safe equipment use and ensure that learners establish the practical foundation required to progress.

02
Level Two

Advanced Fashion Technology & Production

Already have fashion skills? Take them further.

Learning ModeCampus or Approved Online/Hybrid Options

Level Two is designed for learners who already possess foundational garment-making and sewing competence.

Applicants should have relevant skills acquired through previous training, apprenticeship, employment, independent practice, or successful completion of ATEA Level One.

Where necessary, ATEA may assess an applicant's existing capabilities through an interview, portfolio, evidence of previous work or practical assessment.

A formal fashion-school certificate is therefore not necessarily required where the applicant can demonstrate the appropriate level of competence.

Additional Requirements

For Online Level Two Students

Because Level Two remains highly practical, students choosing an online learning option must have access to the tools required to complete practical work independently.

Online Level Two students must own or have reliable personal access at home to:

A functional sewing machine suitable for the required practical work.
Essential sewing and garment-production tools.
Pattern-drafting and measurement equipment required for their course.
Appropriate workspace for completing practical assignments.
A smartphone, tablet or computer capable of accessing online classes and submitting practical evidence.
Reliable internet access for live sessions, learning materials, assignments and instructor feedback.

Additional specialised tools or materials may be required depending on the course. Applicants may be required to confirm their equipment readiness before admission into the online learning option is approved.

Same Standard. Different Learning Environment.

Studying online does not reduce ATEA's practical requirements. Online Level Two students are expected to complete the required practical work, submit evidence for assessment, respond to instructor corrections, and demonstrate the competencies required for successful completion.

ATEA does not lower the competency standard to accommodate online learning. We change how students demonstrate that competency.

03
Level Three

Fashion Entrepreneurship

Ready to turn fashion into an enterprise?

Learning ModeCampus or Online

Fashion Entrepreneurship is designed for aspiring and existing entrepreneurs who want to start, structure, or grow businesses within the fashion industry.

Applicants do not need to be professional fashion designers or garment makers. The programme is suitable for both technical and non-technical founders.

Existing entrepreneurs may be asked about their current business, while aspiring entrepreneurs should be prepared to discuss their interests, ideas or entrepreneurial ambitions during the admissions process.

Because Level Three is primarily entrepreneurship and business focused, students may participate on campus or online, subject to the learning format available for their cohort.

Online students must have a suitable internet-connected device and reliable internet access to participate in classes, assignments, business activities and assessments.

04
Professional Diploma

Professional Diploma in Fashion Technology & Entrepreneurship

From Beginner to Technical Entrepreneur

Learning ModeCampus + Approved Online/Hybrid Options
Duration12 Months

The Professional Diploma provides an integrated journey from foundational fashion technology through professional production and entrepreneurship.

Because the programme begins with Level One, previous fashion experience is not required.

However, Professional Diploma students beginning at Level One must complete the foundational technical stage 100% on campus.

As students progress into Levels Two and Three, approved online or hybrid learning options may become available where appropriate and subject to the applicable practical, equipment and assessment requirements.

Online Technical Stage

Students choosing an online option during the technical Level Two stage must have their own sewing machine and required equipment at home.

Your learning mode may change as you progress. The ATEA standard does not.

Short Courses

Admission Requirements for Short Courses

Entry requirements for ATEA short courses depend on the technical level and practical requirements of the individual course.

Beginner-level technical courses that form part of ATEA's Level One pathway are delivered 100% on campus and are not available online.

Level Two technical courses may be available online where appropriate. Online students must already possess the required foundational competence and have their own sewing machine, appropriate equipment, and practical workspace at home.

Business and entrepreneurship courses may generally be offered online where the course does not require supervised technical training.
